Kojic Acid was discovered in Japan in 1989. It is a natural product derived from a mushroom. It has been successfully used to lighten pigment spots and skin discoloration.

Unlike other products used for similar purposes, it is not as harsh on the skin. Its antioxidizing properties, while being beneficial for the skin, help the product to preserve its effectiveness.

It penetrates upper skin layers to inhibit the formation of pigment.

The upper layer is lightened, while the deeper layers remain discolored. Sun light brings the deeper layered colors to the surface.

Usually, the effect produced by kojic acid lasts as long as the product is being used. I.e. if you stop using Skin Lightener, the cell might regain its activity.

If Skin Lightener is used regularly, you should see the improvements in a matter of 4-6 weeks. For some people this period can be longer or shorter, depending on their particular skin type.

Skin lightener is effective for any skin type or tone. Oily skin might take longer to show the dramatic results. Use twice a day on oily skin; on dry and sensitive - once a day at night. If your skin is oily, you may want to use one of the peels (Alpha Hydroxy Peel, or Glycolic peel) before the application of Skin Lightener - to exfoliate dead cells and remove oily residues.

Keep in mind, that even when you see an improvement, you need to avoid sun as a major factor of skin discoloration. Wear sunblock and try to cover exposed areas: use hats, long sleeves, pants and gloves.
